Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihoods Mission (USRLM)

The Indian Government initiated the "National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM)" to implement the new strategy of poverty alleviation woven around community-based institutions. The Mission’s primary objective is to reduce poverty by promoting diversified and gainful self-employment and wage employment opportunities for a sustainable increase in incomes.   The team member at WhitePeak were engaged to provide technical assistance for the Uttarakhand State Rural Livelihoods Mission (falling under the umbrella of NRLM). This was carried out through a combination of expert interviews and rigorous secondary research. The project objectives were to provide technical and capacity building assistance to the project staff and to formulate various reports. The final deliverable included: 

• SHG Assessment in the state of Uttarakhand based on: Socio-economic impact on SHG’s vulnerable members, for instance, youth, women and SC/ST; Convergence with other programs; Challenges and Recommendations
• Convergence assessment using qualitative research techniques for collection of data
• Community Resource Persons Report (CRP) recruitment manual and presentation. The objective of the research was to design a proposal for the recruitment of Community Resource Persons (CRPs) for USRLM. The study identified the challenges faced with CRP recruitment and proposed recommendations
• A report and presentation for the Technical Proposal of the Single Windows System (SWS).
• Value chain mapping exercise for over ten CLFs in the state of Uttarakhand
• Business Plans to understand the present state of economic status and activities of CLFs in Uttarakhand as well as propose strategies for their long-term sustainability.
• Various trainings and work-shops for the Area Coordinator, BMM and CLF facilitator across state
