Multiple state governments in India, such as Uttarakhand and West Bengal among others, wished to strengthen their initiatives, programmes, and institutional capacities so as to improve the competitiveness of their Horticulture/agri-business sector through innovation and market linkages. In this respect, a Project Management Unit (PMU) was conceptualized to offer a set of value chain interventions and provide hand-holding support to farmers.
The team members at WhitePeak were engaged by UNDP to provide secondary research inputs and design the programme proposal for the two states. The proposals included a sector strategy for horticulture value chain development, covering end-to-end solutions linking farms/farmers to markets.
