The work-force in Rwanda is growing rapidly, when compared to the increase in the number of jobs. Lack of skilled labor force acts as a huge constraint for further growth and competitiveness of the Rwandan economy. It is important to ensure that the country has skilled work-force to support the growing and emerging industries. In this respect, a study was conducted to identify existing skill gaps.

The team members at WhitePeak were engaged by Mott MacDonald to provide technical assistance in the development of the skills assessment report and workforce development. A significant amount of secondary research, literature review, independent analysis, and key informant interviews with the institutional stakeholders was performed to advise the Government team on ‘Agro-Processing Skill Assessment Report’ and ‘Agro-Processing Skill Profiling Report’. WhitePeak also provided oversight to the development of workforce development strategy on the basis of research conducted. The final report provided to the client covered the following areas:

• Identification of the skills supply in the agro-processing sector
• Identification of the skills demand in the agro-processing sector
• Analysis of the mismatch between demand and supply in the agro-processing sector
