EBA Export Price Parity Analysis, Honduras

The team member at WhitePeak was engaged by the World Bank, to provide in-depth assessment of ‘Enabling the Business of Agriculture’ (EBA) Report, 2019 for Honduras. The objective of the deep-dive analysis was to complement the EBA findings, and inform sector policy dialogue and strategic actions that would support ‘Rural Competitiveness Project’ (COMRURAL II). Additionally, the team members at Whitepeak were engaged to provide the ‘Agriculture and Food Global Practice’ (AGF-GP) team of Honduras, with a preliminary agribusiness sector analysis of Central American countries, considering the COVID-19 pandemic. The final deliverable was created through secondary research inputs and analysis of significant amount of academic literature, Government statistical data, and alternate research sources. The final deliverable included: 

• A thorough study on agricultural trade in Honduras and an extensive analysis of agri-business in Central America, by studying the agri-business trade and value chains 
• Trade data was collected to conduct a export price parity analysis and identify value chains which were competitive from an international trade perspective 
• An analysis of EBA indicators, highlighting the challenges and opportunities in various areas evaluated by the EBA report
• A thorough study on the COVID-19 imposed challenges and recommendations for Honduras
• Clear identification and analysis of recommendations for COMRURAL areas
